Tatsushi “Tatsu” Shintaku ‘11, Salisbury Cove, ME

Katherine Conroy Whalen Fellow Tatsushi “Tatsu” Shintaku ‘11 interned at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL) in Salisbury Cove, ME. Tatsushi is majoring in Biochemistry. He writes, “I did a biological research on development sea urchin and sand dollar embryos and their ciliary differentiation at Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL) with my supervisor Professor Robert Morris and fellow student Ian Greenstein. We collected our own sand dollars and sea urchins since MDIBL is located by the ocean and was motivating to do research on animals we collected to ourselves.”
