Wheaton Fellow Steven Zerbini ’11 Interns in Medical Field

Wheaton Fellow Steven Zerbini ‘11 conducted research at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT this summer. As a volunteer student researcher for Woodland Anesthesia Associates, Steven conducted research with three UCONN medical students in the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute (CJRI).  In Steven’s reflection essay, he writes “This experience gave me a huge amount of exposure to the field of medicine, which I am hoping to enter after graduation . . . Overall this has been a wonderful and eye opening experience.  I am very fortunate to have gotten this change to work here and to have learned so much from so many different professionals and people.” Steven’s hard work had another unexpected outcome – he’ll soon be published!  According to Steven, “[currently], the doctors are looking over the work that I was able to accomplish this summer.  Once they look it over and make a few corrections they will place my work on a poster and publish it.  To have a published piece of work is a great accomplishment and experience to have under my belt.  Not many college students can say that they have been published.”
