Austin Davidson ’12 Participates in Professor-Led Trip to South Africa & Botswana

Austin Davidson ’12 used her Trustee Scholar stipend to help cover the costs of participating in a professor-led trip to South Africa and Botswana. The program, led by Professors Freeman and Allen of the Economics and Political Science departments, allowed students to learn through a unique educational lenses and thereby gain a deeper awareness of the governmental issues and economic struggles in these countries.  According to Austin, “[the trip] was an incredible experience; one that could not be found inside the classroom. From my own experiences I know that knowledge gained outside of the classroom is crucial to a strong understanding of a subject and I will actively pursue every chance I get to learn in this way.”
