“The Spain-North Africa Project: The Foundation and Development of a New Academic Organization”

Yuen-Gen Liang founded the Spain-North Africa Project in the summer of 2010 in Barcelona.  The organization’s mission is to bridge divides between scholars researching and teaching the experience of Christians, Muslims, and Jews in the western Mediterranean and to promote further study through collaborative activities.  Liang explains the impetus that established this new academic organization, how SNAP has taken shape since, what it has accomplished in its first year, and its goals for the future.

Professor Liang’s talk, The Spain-North Africa Project, will be given Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Faculty Dining Room. The accompanying illustration, provided by Professor Liang, is of the Presidio of Oran in Algeria.
