Announcing the Wheaton Pride Scholarship
To the campus community,
I am pleased to announce the establishment of the Wheaton Pride Scholarship, which will be awarded to students who are actively engaged in LGBTQ+ advocacy efforts.
This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to two students on an annual basis, starting with the 2024-25 academic year. Current and newly-enrolled students are eligible. The application for the scholarship is now available online. Admitted students must apply by April 15; current students by July 1.
The idea for the scholarship grew from the discussions that I’ve had with faculty, staff, students and alumni about building on Wheaton’s commitment to diversity and equity with inclusion and belonging. Continuing this work is essential to our community’s shared values, and I believe it is important to realizing the college’s full potential. The Wheaton Pride Scholarship reaffirms our goal of becoming a truly inclusive and equity-minded community, and it celebrates and supports our LGBTQ+ students and allies.
I encourage interested students to consider applying for the award, and I hope alums and friends of the college will join me in endowing this fund for the future.
Sincerely,
Michaele Whelan
