Wheaton cancels classes for Monday, March 4

Due to the heavy overnight snowfall, Wheaton will cancel classes and college offices will be closed for Monday, March 4.

The storm closure will apply to all administrative offices. In departments that provide essential services, supervisors are responsible for coordinating schedules so that services continue. Non-essential personnel should not report for work.

Campus facilities

Chase Dining Hall and Emerson Dining Hall will operate on their normal schedules. The Balfour-Hood Cafe and the Davis Cafe will not open today. The library will open at 10 a.m. Balfour-Hood and the fitness center will open at 10 a.m. The bookstore will open at 12 noon.

Events and activities scheduled after 2 p.m. are expected to take place as scheduled.

Campus clean up from the storm will likely take several hours before it is complete. Meanwhile, please be careful when moving about campus as roadways and pathways may be slippery. If you observe any damage to facilities or problems with college services, please report them to Public Safety as soon as possible so that staff can respond. You can do this by calling: (508) 286-3333 or use the LiveSafe App from your smartphone. Res Life staff members are on duty and available for assistance.

Parking

Finally, please remember that restrictions on student parking continue to be in force until 5 p.m. today. Student vehicles parked in closed lots, and that prevent snow removal efforts, may be towed to an off-campus location, at the owner’s expense.

Students should make sure that vehicles are parked in one of the following lots:

  • Lot 1A, which is adjacent to the baseball stadium only
  • Lot 3, which is located off of Pine Street
  • Lot 4, located off Fillmore Drive at the Meadows complex
  • Lot 10, behind the post office

All vehicles parked at residential theme houses should be relocated to Lot 3. Also, all vehicles parked along Howard Street should be moved to one of the open parking lots.

Any vehicle parked in closed lots, and that hampers emergency snow removal efforts, may be towed to an off-campus location, at the owner’s expense.

If there are any problems or safety issues, please contact Public Safety at 508-286-8213.
