Wheaton cancelling classes, closing offices, at 2 p.m. today
Due to the impending winter storm, the college plans to curtail operations, starting at 2 p.m. today.
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow during the afternoon and early evening, making travel difficult. Moving around campus will require caution as pathways and stairs may be slippery.
Classes and labs that are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and after will be cancelled for the day. Administrative offices also will close at that time. Evening activities will be cancelled as well.
In departments that provide essential services, supervisors are responsible for coordinating schedules so that services continue. Non-essential personnel should not report for the second and third shift on Tuesday.
Campus facilities
Chase and Emerson Dining Halls will continue to operate on normal hours, however the Balfour Hood Cafe and Davis Spencer Cafe will close at 2pm. The bookstore will close at 2pm also.
Other facilities on campus will remain open, including the Haas Athletic Center, and Balfour-Hood Campus Center (including the Pappas Fitness Center). The library will remain open until midnight.
We encourage all students, faculty and staff to remain attentive to college email and to the website for updates.
On a related note, students are advised to ensure that cell phones and other mobile devices are charged, in the event that the campus experiences a power outage due to heavy snow and ice.
Campus parking
Normal parking rules remain in place.
