A Taste of Versailles, Part II

During her summer internship at Museum Textiles Services (MTS) in Andover, MA, Gabby Ferreira, Class of 2012 helped conserve an 18th century French Robe à l’Anglaise (34.085) believed to have been owned by the Duchess du Choiseul. Her second post to the MTS blog explores the life of the duchess whose costume is now part of Wheaton’s Permanent Collection. The robe was purchased from the Edgar L. Ashley Collection with funds from the Carnegie Foundation and its conservation treatment was made possible through the Ann H. Murray Art Conservation Fund thanks to donations from the Friends of Art and Blake Funston, Class of 2012.
