Student soloists shine at spring orchestra concert

The Great Woods Chamber Orchestra collaborated with numerous student soloists on its May 8, 2011 concert in Weber Theatre.

In all, nine student soloists performed with the orchestra, including cellists Tristan Back and Jeffrey Kaplan, who presented Vivaldi’s double cello concerto in G minor, and singers Shannon Coclo, Maraike Crom, Sarah Geocaris, Jake Dunn, and Gavin Mackie, who collaborated in several scenes from Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro”. In a unique addition to the concert, student singer-songwriters Lillian Jones and Lizzie Camlin-Irving performed original songs with backing from the orchestra’s string section. The concert ended with Schubert’s vivacious and comic Symphony No. 3.
