November 21, 2014

A masterful singer and storyteller from west County Cork, Seán grew up in a rural Irish-speaking environment. In the 1960s, Ó Sé became very well known as the singer for Ireland’s most important folk revival group, an association that led to his recording over 15 albums and performing throughout Ireland, Europe, the United States, China and other countries. Seán’s repertoire is centered on sean nos (“old style”) Irish language ballads and also includes English language Irish songs as well as Scottish, English and American melodies.
