Professor Ann Sears publishes major new article

Blackness in Opera (cover)Professor Ann Sears’ most recent article, “Political Currents and Black Culture in Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha,” appears in a major new volume, “Blackness and Opera,” edited by Naomi André, Karen M. Bryan, and Eric Saylor, and published by University of Illinois Press (2012). Professor Sears, Director of Performance in the music department, teaches a range of courses on American music, musical theatre, film, and on music education in the United States. Professor Sears also supervises the American Music minor at Wheaton.
