German Influences in the First Turkish National Movement

Peter H. Christensen will speak about the role of German influences in the First National Movement of art, architecture and urban planning in Turkey after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Christensen is a Ph.D. Candidate in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Harvard University and currently Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Technische Universität Munich. At Harvard he is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture. Prior to coming to Harvard, he served as Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art.
