ARTHive Needs You!
ARTHive Auction: The Art of Community
April 10, 2012 at 7pm
Holman Room, Mary Lyon Hall
ARTHive, Wheaton College’s Art History Club, proudly announces its first auction, The Art of Community. We’re celebrating how the arts help to build communities, here on campus and beyond.
Are you invested in your community?
If so, consider making a donation of a work of art (in any media). Or, you might considering donating your time and expertise to create a meaningful experience for someone else (singing lessons, help with a paper, or perhaps a gift certificate to your favorite local restaurant?). Be creative!
A preview exhibition of donated art objects will be held in Watson Fine Arts, from March 27-April 10, with an opening reception in the Haas Concourse on March 27 at 7pm.
Which communities will your donated art support?
Half of the proceeds from the sale of the works will support Providence ¡CityArts! for Youth a community arts organization providing free professional arts education to Providence youth between ages 8-14. Through their after-school and summer arts programs, over 1200 youths are offered meaningful learning experiences with art, design, performing arts, and writing.
Since we believe that engagement with these arts has been key to our lives at Wheaton, we hope to build a bridge between Providence ¡CityArts! and our community on campus.
Remaining proceeds will support both the Ann H. Murray Art Conservation Fund, for the preservation and restoration of works of art in Wheaton College’s Permanent Collection, as well as ARTHive itself.
A stronger Murray Fund will mean that more objects from the Collection can be seen and appreciated by our Wheaton Community.
Please contact Sarah Estrela for more information.
