Wheaton Pre-College program launches

The newly launched Wheaton Pre-College program provides a four-week academic offering that allows high school students the opportunity to experience Wheaton, prepare for success in college and gain college credit.

For summer 2023, commuting students can choose to enroll in one or two immersive Wheaton courses during the day, returning home in the evening. The program also includes college life workshops and open studio and lab time for research and independent projects.

Like other successful pre-college programs, Wheaton’s offering is a rigorous academic experience that is designed to introduce high school students to the demands of college-level learning and help prepare them for undergraduate success. Students who attend a quality pre-college program like ours can the benefit from:

  • Increased independence
  • Critical skill building in time management, self-advocacy and school/life balance
  • Exposure to new areas of interest for college and careers
  • Unique coursework and experiences to add to their college applications
  • Self awareness in identifying areas to improve upon in preparation for college
  • Reduction in anxiety during their first year of undergraduate experience

The program is offered through the Office of Summer Programming in collaboration with Admissions, the Office of the Provost, Office of the Registrar, Student Affairs, Residential Life, Marketing & Communications, Information Technology, and many more departments, whose support is invaluable to the student experience and outcomes.

Wheaton Pre-College is open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors—16 to 18 years old by October 2023—who are interested in a challenging, college-level academic experience that involves hands-on, experiential learning.

In 2024, Wheaton plans to offer a full residential program with an expanded selection of academic and athletic programming.
