My major interest lies in comparing the Russian and Chinese political systems. My most recent project was examining Russian and Chinese elite discourse on democracy, comparing it to the prevalent Western models. I am currently beginning a long term project assessing Russian and Chinese conceptions and uses of soft power as a means of enhancing their international presence.
