Does the Media Make Self-Governance Impossible?
Reflections on Reform in the Age of Corrupted Press featuring Lawrence Lessig
February 23, 2016
Professor Lessig presents a lecture linking the current structure of political media to the possibilities for self-governance. Is the business model of modern media consistent with self-governance? Do the norms of modern journalism help or hurt? Do we need to imagine a new infrastructure for democratic journalism if democracy is to be possible? Lessig’s experience as a potential reform-presidential candidate have brought him to see these issues differently.
