Worked as a student researcher for both the Genomics and Lexomics research groups. She interned at Raytheon for two summers… and is now working there. While at Wheaton, she studied abroad in Italy during her junior year. Christina was a captain of the cross country team her junior year and continues to run in all she does.

Neil Kathok ’10
Neil Kathok ’10 is an Internet Technologies Engineer at Apple. At Wheaton, Neil was everywhere where computing was done. He was lead sysadmin in our labs and was lead developer for Wheaton’s Genomics Group, where he wrote tens if not hundreds of scripts, including his seedDB script which pounded on NCBI to auto-download hundreds of microbial genomes and their metadata to seed our local dB. Before leaving Wheaton, Neil helped automate machine learning experiments for Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifications on microbial genomes (yeah, we miss him).

As part of a group funded by an NSF/CDI grant, Chris is modeling the erosion of levees to help predict future events such as those which occurred during hurricane Katrina. This work involves computational geometry as well as 3D computer graphics. At Wheaton, Chris was a double computer science and mathematics major.

He is presently a software developer for Witwatersrand University (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa where he is helping the university move to an open source learning management system (Sakai). Adam Villa ’03
Adam Villa ’03 is currently in the Ph.D. program for Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire. Adam’s research involves transferring massive datasets (TBs) through shared, public networks like a campus network (keeping cloud/grid computing in mind). While at Wheaton, Adam studied in France and worked with the Wheaton Genomics Group. Adam Villa ’03 is currently in the Ph.D. program for Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire. Greg Williams ’03
Greg Williams ’03 is completing his PhD in computer science at RPI. His research focuses on scaling the huge sets of data available on the web down to more manageable subsets. One of the challenges in this work is to cull only the information that is less relevant for one’s problem domain. He is the co-author of several papers on this subject. At Wheaton, he was well known for his computing wiz and his spiked hair (think Elmer’s glue).
Patrick Thomas ’03
Patrick Thomas ’03 is currently working for the California Institute of Technology at LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory) in Hanford, WA as an Operations Specialist. LIGO is an experiment to detect and characterize gravitational waves from astronomical sources. When they are collecting data Patrick helps to staff the control room and operate the interferometer. Ken Babby ’02 is the sole owner of the Akron Aeros minor league baseball team since October 11, 2012. Formed in 1989, the Aeros are based in Akron, Ohio, they compete in the Eastern League, and are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. In September 2012 they won the title to become the 2012 Eastern League Champions. While at Wheaton, Ken designed and completed an independent major in Computer Science and Economics.

Nathan is a Senior Lead Program Manager at Microsoft. Nathan ran Microsoft’s Answers program for about a year. He previously founded and ran their Live Search Webmaster Center for 2 years. While at Wheaton (studying Computer Science, Physics, and Painting), Nathan was a founding member of the Wheaton Genomics team. He also served as General Manager of Wheaton’s Lyons Den Coffeehouse.
Kenneth Aspeslagh ’00
Ken Aspeslagh ’00 is co-founder of Ecamm Network. While at Wheaton, Ken studied Computer Science, Mathematics, and Astronomy. Ken and his brother Glen ’00 were co-recipients of the Fred Kollett prize in Math and Computer Science. Ken also founded the “Science House” on campus in 1999. After Wheaton, Ken worked at Avid Technology until leaving to start Ecamm in 2005.
Glen Aspeslagh ’00
Glen Aspeslagh ’00 is co-founder of Ecamm Network. At Wheaton, Glen did lots of midnight puppet shows in the freshman dorms with his twin brother Ken ’00. He sold his first app, a Palm OS app for astronomers to calculate the position of the stars, while at Wheaton. It cost $8! For research, Glen was one of the founding members of the Genomics Research Group. Glen minored in French where he met his future wife in French class.
