Dr. Imo Nse Imeh

Dr. Imo Nse Imeh is an Assistant Professor of Art and Art History at Westfield State University. He received his doctorate in Art History from Yale University, where he studied the art and aesthetics of the African Diaspora.

His forthcoming book, Daughters of Seclusion: The Revelation of the Ibibio Fattened Bride as the Icon of Beauty and Power, investigates the intriguing institution of women’s aesthetics and scholarship in Ibibioland, Nigeria, known as mbopo. Presently, he is developing a series of paintings that are the visual embodiment of his research, collectively titled The Catatonia Anthologies.

He will speak on Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Knapton Lecture Hall at 6:30pm.
