Trip to Trinidad

Julie Searles will be heading south once again to Trinidad & Tobago for the Innovative Music Traditions of Trinidad and Tobago course, January 2012.

We’ll be spending time in panyards across Port of Spain — including Phase II Pan Groove, Pamberi, Renegades and Exodus — we’ll check out what’s going on in the Calypso tents, visit with the Mighty Chalkdust, Rikki Jai, and Earl Lovelace, and stop by St James for the best roti in the hemisphere. The application process will begin as soon as we get back to school in September so students can prepare for the journey, jamming with the Lymin’ Lyons.
