Two Political Science Majors to lead SGA

Mary Sasso, the Student Government Association (SGA) President-Elect, is a rising senior hailing from Brunswick, Maine. She is majoring in Political Science and is minoring in both French and Anthropology. At Wheaton, Mary has been active in the Wheaton College Democrats. She is also President of the Wheaton Whims, an all female acapella group. Currently, Mary is studying abroad in Paris.

Sam Mahler, the SGA Vice President-Elect, is a rising junior from Fairfield, CT. A double major in Political Science and Economics, he has served as Treasurer and President of the Wheaton College Democrats, President of House of REPS, the political science theme house, and also has served as Secretary of SGA in the 2016-17 year.

Together, Mary and Sam want to implement a diverse slate of policies. For example, Mary and Sam want to ensure that student voices are a large part of Wheaton’s curriculum review process. They hope to make it easier to set up and monitor connections, as well as the other general education requirements. This way all students can enjoy a seamless academic experience that fully prepares them for what lies ahead.
