New Publication: Sucāruvādadeśika: A Festschrift Honoring Professor Theodore Riccardi

Prof. Bruce Owens and his fellow scholar of Newar studies, Todd Lewis, co-edited Sucāruvādadeśika: A Festschrift Honoring Professor Theodore Riccardi,  a volume including contributions from thirty-two of Prof. Riccardi’s former students, all of whom studied with him at Columbia University. Prof. Owens’s contribution is entitled “Accounting for Ritual in the Kathmandu Valley,” and traces variations in textual accounts of the origins of Nepal’s largest festival, Bungaya, as they have shifted over the past four centuries of its 1,400 year history.
