2016 Violence Against Women Symposium

Stand Against Violence

Every time Violence Against Women is taught our students engage in a campus wide initiative to raise awareness of the issue raised by this type of violence in our community and beyond. This year the course is part of the Wheaton Institute for Interdisciplinary Humanities. Our students presented feature films, lectures, made their own activist films and set up evocative installations, maps and timelines to bring the issues of violence against women to the forefront on our campus. Working to share our knowledge and commitment with our peers is part of understanding the public role of scholarship in social change. The organizational and creative skills involved in putting together this collaborative allow our students to showcase and practice engaged citizenship.
